City of Cape Town Internship 2017

The City of Cape Town is offering a full—time l2—month internship to 39 new graduates in specific study fields.

12-month contract: 1 February 2017 — 31 January 2018

The internship provides on exciting opportunity for graduates To develop capacity and skills in key operational areas in The City of Cope Town and to gain practical hands-on experience. Th interns will be mentored by managers within relevant city departments.

A suitably qualified intern will work in one of the following sections:

Environmental Resource Management department
Spatial Planning and Urban Design department
Planning and Building Development Management department
Economic Development department
Trade & Investment department
Development Information & GIS department

An Applicant should:

Be a new graduate in one of the fields of environmental science studies/heritage resource management,library and information science,nature conservation, energy management,climate change,green economy, economics,architecture or landscape architecture,spatial planning, urban and regional planning, land use management planning, policy and strategy development, social sciences, humanities, development studies, geographical science, statistics,marketing and communication
Have good planning,administration,writing,computer analytical and oral communication skills
Be able to work independently, also in a team and under pressure

A valid drivers licence is essential for some posts

A minimum stipend of R34,60 per hour, based on a 40 hour week, will be paid together with limited employment fringe benefits.

Applicants must be able to commence work on Wednesday, 1 February 2017.
