Group Risk helps the entire Nedbank Group manage threats, opportunities and uncertainties in both everyday and long-term strategic decisions.
We employ graduates with Bachelor’s degrees in law and accounting, or postgraduate qualifications in mathematical finance, statistics, operations, research and management.
We also look at CFAs, and those with certificates in criminal justice and forensic auditing.
Here are some of the ways we do it
Enterprise-wide risk management – we make sure that our people, processes, strategies, knowledge and technology are on the same page, working towards a common goal.
Financial crime – we want Nedbank to be a safe, crime-free place for our clients, staff, and shareholders. That means a zero tolerance approach to corruption, whether internal or external, and ensuring we comply with the law.
Everyday operations – we write policies around everyday work practices. This ranges from looking after the bank’s physical assets like IT hardware to managing business disruptions, system failures, and execution and delivery processes.
Internal audits – we provide an independent audit on each business within the bank, making sure their processes and procedures are effective and compliant.
Credit and market risk – we create a sound credit culture in the bank, balancing an appetite for risk against an expected reward. We also make sure that the group takes part in the right domestic and international markets within the boundaries of our risk appetite.
