J.P. Morgan  invites applications for the 2015 Investment Banking Winter Internship Programme based in Johannesburg. Put your energy, insight and analytical prowess to work at the heart of J.P. Morgan. Spend time in our Investment Banking business. Over the two weeks, you’ll work with senior bankers and develop vital skills and start building your professional network as you get a first look at the biggest deals in Investment Banking.

What you can expect from our winter internship

Our winter internship Programme runs for two to three weeks starting towards the end of June. The internship starts with 4 days of intense Line of Business Presentations provided by J.P. Morgan Internal experts. These sessions will bring you up to speed on our history, the scale and scope of our organisation today and our ambitious plans for tomorrow. Then, get ready to join your Line of Business group.

On-the-job learning is only part of what we offer. You’ll also have access to skilled employees to advise and support you through the programme. You’ll be meeting colleagues, including senior leaders, from across the firm and building your professional network. Upon successful completion of the programme, you may have the opportunity to apply for our 2016 Full-time Graduate programme.

As an Analyst on our Winter Programme your responsibilities would typically include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting company, industry and product related research
  • Supporting financial valuation (including benchmarking, relative and discounted cash flow analyses)
  • Compiling company/industry related profiles
  • Assisting with the preparation of presentation materials for deal marketing/pitches

What you need to bring

Genuine curiosity about the Investment Banking world is the starting point. We’re looking for adaptable, accurate, enthusiastic students who thrive under pressure and in a team. You must be in your final year of studies. Academic excellence is a must, (results to date should clearly demonstrate that this is a realistic indication). There’s no set degree for Investment Bankers; but a demonstrated interest in finance and economics is advantageous.

Additional requirements include:

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and interpretative skills
  • The confidence and initiative to take on early responsibility and manage your own projects
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite.

But beyond that, what we’re most interested in are the things that make you, you: the personal qualities, outside interests and achievements beyond academia that demonstrate the kind of person you are and the difference you could bring to the team.

Eligibility

To be considered for a place on the Winter Programme you must be in your final year of studies, eligible to start full-time in 2016.
