Nurse Training Opportunities at MediClinic

0

Recruiting and retaining high-quality medical professionals is fundamental to Mediclinic Southern Africa’s sustainability. There remains an ongoing shortage of nurses in South Africa. According to a 2013 survey by the SA Institute of Race Relations, South Africa needs over 44000 nurses. In the short term Mediclinic Southern Africa has addressed this by recruiting nurses from India. The longer-term solution is to increase local training. To this end, Mediclinic plans to double their training capacity over the next number of years.

Mediclinic’s training and development function is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution and offers a Certificate: Enrolled Nurse to promote training of skilled healthcare personnel and thus sustain quality outcomes in providing healthcare.

A total of 451 learners completed undergraduate programmes during the 2013 academic year.

For this intake formal programmes will commence in June 2015 to provide learners with the appropriate knowledge and skills needed to perform fundamental nursing care. Successful applicants will be employed by Mediclinic, which funds the programme for its employees. Learners are only responsible for the cost of any prescribed and recommended books.
